Indian World Cup cricket squad is back
16th June 1999

Indian World Cup cricket squad, which included, Sourav Ganguly, Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath, Nayan Mongia, Sadagoppan Ramesh, Debasis Mohanty, Manager Brijesh Patel and scorer Dinar Gupte arrived at Mumnai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in the wee hours on Wednesday by Emirates Airlines via Dubai

Skipper Mohammed Azharuddin, Coach Anshuman Gaekwad, Vice-captain Ajay Jadeja, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid did not come with the team

It is understood that Azharuddin and Tendulkar are still in London, while Venkatesh Prasad and Nikhil Chopra returned to their hometowns through different flights from London. Some other players have on a European tour from England.

Not many people at the airport were aware of the team’s arrival. Compared to the ‘best wishes’ hype before embarking on a tour last month, the arrival was without any hype and hoopla.
