| India hot favorite to win World Cup: Srikanth By Ajay Chaturvedi The ICC World Cup Trophy which has been touring Indian cities as the `Pepsi World Cup on Tour' campaign to garner support and encouragement and wishing the team that important element called luck for the championship. At a press function held at The Orchid where former India skipper Krishnamachari Srikkanth joined Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala, pop divas Usha Uthup, Anaida, Kay Kay and actor Kamal Khan in wishing the Indian team the best of luck as they prepare to leave for England on Friday night. Former skipper K. Srikkanth believed Indians have every reason to believe India could win the Cup as a whole lot of factors weighed in our favour, including the fact that we have four good medium bowlers in Srinath, Prasad, Agarkar and Mohanty who, he felt, would be most effective in English conditions. This apart, he said we had Tendulkar, Jadeja and Ganguly who are good enough to share more than just ten overs and that gives us that much more confidence to use an extra batsman in the side which would be an added advantage. “We have the best team in the world, who will still need that ... little bit of luck,” which we wish them with all our hearts,” said Usha Uthup. Azhar said South Africa would be the toughest team to beat while Srikkanth predicted the World Cup would be won either by India, South Africa or Australia. However, India remains his strong hunch. | ![]() Security tightened in Churches in Muzaffarpur following explosion Stars shine bright in Bengal poll sky Presence of namesakes makes the job tough for main candidates Congress trying to win polls through terror: AGP US pleased with overall support for Bush's NMD project Fear psychosis grips Assam on poll eve Indians working in dotcoms in US filing for bankruptcy ISI active to create instability in India: PM Panja may be re-inducted into cabinet: Vajpayee Plot to set-off a blast near Srinagar state secretariat foiled Action against Kerala Assembly Speaker only if RO complains: CEO Pilot killed as MiG-21 crashes Long arm of the law haunts film industry VHP talks of a 'final notice' to PM on Ayodhya US gives a clean chit to Pakistan on Taliban |
