Miandad resigns as Pakistan cricket coach
22nd Apr 1999
By Ajay Chaturvedi

Pakistan cricket coach Jawed Miandad has resigned from the post. His resignation has come barely three weeks before the World Cup.

He cited family commitments for his resignation. But there are reports that Miandad’s resignation came following severe differences with senior members of Pakistan team, including captain Wasim Akram.

He was also unhappy over the induction of the South African coach Richard Pybus as Pakistan coach for the World cup, it’s reported.

Miandad, Pakistan’s highest run maker in test matches as well as one-day internationals, was appointed coach last year during the Sahara cup held in Toronto.
