Sachin Tendulkar reached yet another milestone in his illustrious career by becoming the first cricketer ever to score 15,000 ODI runs in the second one-dayer against South Africa in Belfast today.Playing his 387th match, Tendulkar hit ##Andre Nel## for an awesome six -- his 160th six -- on the fourth ball of the 18th over to get to 45 and after a dot ball, he drove the pacer into covers and darted for a single, while the overthrow from covers raced to the boundary to complete his half century. With this, Tendulkar completed his 15000 runs in the shorter version of the game. Before this match, Tendulkar had 14950 ODI runs under his belt with 41 centuries against his name and an average of 44.10. Tendulkar made his ODI debut against Pakistan at Gujranwala on December 18, 1989. Hailed as modern day Don Bradman by none other than the great Australian himself, Tendulkar is also the first batsman to score 50 hundreds in international cricket. Tendulkar was the first cricketer to cross 10,000-run mark in one dayers and only six other players have achieved the feat -- Sanath Jayasuriya, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Ricky Ponting, Brian Lara, and Inzamam-ul-Haq. Tendulkar was also the fastest to reach 10,000 runs taking 259 innings and has the highest batting average among batsmen with over 10,000 ODI runs. Tendulkar boasts of most ODI centuries, won most (53) Man of the Match and most (13) Man of the Series Awards. Tendulkar scored most runs (1,796 at an average of 59.87) in World Cup Cricket history, including four centuries and 13 fifties with a best score of 152 not out against Namibia in 2003. in-depth coverage > Sachin Tendulkar > |
