Saeed Anwar got a first hand experience of the security arrangements in Karachi when the swashbuckling southpaw, the mainstay of Pakistani batting line-up till a few years ago, was stopped from entering their dressing room by security personnel for not having a visitor’s card.According to a report in 'The News', Anwar was stopped at the entrance of the Pakistani dressing room by security guards who refused to entertain his request for contacting someone in the dressing room. This, despite the fact that Anwar is a regular in the Pakistani dressing room and had come on the invitation of the players. The daily reported that the former opener was also pushed by the guards and the matter could be settled only after event managers intervened and collected Anwar's visitor's card from the dressing room. Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq was reportedly furious after he came to know about the incident. Anwar, who holds the world record for having the highest individual score in ODIs, regularly visits the Pakistani dressing room to counsel the players and give advice. in-depth coverage > India-Pakistan Series 2006 > |
