Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh is relishing the prospect of bowling to the Sri Lankans in their second innings on Wednesday and would look to bowl into the roughs to maximize the gains from the wicket.Harbhajan, who took his best-ever haul of 7/62 against Sri Lankans in their first innings to skittle them out for 206, said the wicket was still playing true and if one bowled well there would be gains for sure. "So far the wicket has played good. There are a few patches caused by Irfan Pathan's and Lasith Malinga's footmarks. It does help when you go out to bowl and use those roughs," the Punjab spinner said after the third day's play which saw India amass an overall lead of 479 runs with one wicket in hand. "I am looking forward to bowl in the second innings," he said. Harbhajan said he valued all the wickets he took yesterday and this morning. "Taking wickets in Test matches is a difficult task, (hence) all the wickets that I took were satisfying. I am happy with the way I bowled (in the Sri Lankan first innings)," said Harbhajan who completed his 17th plus-five-haul in a Test innings in what was his 50th appearance. Asked about the dew factor that has delayed the start of play on all three days so far, the bowler said it had not affected the condition of the pitch today. "There was no dew this morning. The pitch had good bounce and the ball was not keeping low, unlike in Kotla where it was two-paced and the ball was keeping low. It was nicely coming on to the bat. If you are good enough you can score runs and if you are a good bowler you can take wickets (on this pitch)," he said. "On the first day we lost a couple of wickets early and without Dravid it was tough. But we did a very good job to get to 398. Then all of us worked very hard on the field, took our catches. We bowled line and length. We are looking forward to continue to do well and win the game," he added. in-depth coverage > India-Sri Lanka Test Series 2005 > |
