Anil Kumble's ten wickets haul against Sri Lanka have helped him move up by five places to occupy the fifth spot as India's leading player in the bowling list of ICC rankings. Kumble, who previously moved up one place and into the top 10 after collecting three wickets in the first Test in Chennai, is now 10 points behind fourth-placed Shoaib Akhtar of Pakistan. Kumble is not the only India bowler with a smile on his face after today's Test win as left-armer Irfan Pathan is also now in the top ten. He moves up one place to 10th in the list and is also on the rise in the all-rounder list as well. Pathan's second innings 93, his Test-best score, has helped him move up six places in that all-rounder table and he now sits just outside the top five, in seventh spot. Captain Rahul Dravid remains in fifth place in the ICC Test Rankings for batsmen, while Virender Sehwag, who missed the Delhi Test through illness, is seventh and Sachin Tendulkar is up one place to ninth after his record-breaking 35th Test hundred. Mutiah Muralitharan has slipped one spot to third, behind Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne, while Chaminda Vaas is down four places to eighth. in-depth coverage > India-Sri Lanka Test Series 2005 > |
