Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) President Narhari Amin today said the third and final Test match between India and Sri Lanka, to be played at Sardar Patel Gujarat stadium, Motera in Ahmedabad from December 18, has been insured for over Rs 5.5 crore.Amin told media persons in Ahmedabad that elaborate security arrangements have been made for the peaceful and smooth conduct of play and safety of the cricketers and spectators will be ensured. He said the Sri Lankan team has been insured for nearly Rs two crore, with each player having an individual insurance of Rs 15 lakh. However, the Indian team has not been insured as Indian cricketers are already insured by the BCCI. The Test match has been insured for Rs three crore, which includes the public liabilities. Beside these, tickets and advertising revenue have also been insured for Rs 35 lakh and Rs ten lakh, respectively, Amin said. By adopting high-tech trend of advanced countries, the association, too, has tied-up with Converge Lab to sell tickets of pavilion stands through internet and mobile phone booking, via cellular service of Hutchison Essar, he said. Incidentally, the match, which was originally allocated to Kanpur centre, had to be rescheduled to Ahmedabad, as the authorities in Kanpur expressed their inability to hold the match. He also expressed hope that the stadium will be filled to its capacity with spectators, as the Indian Team is performing well against the visitors in the present series. Besides this, ticket rates have been set between Rs 40 to 400 each, which are affordable for any cricket fan, Amin added. On the security arrangements, the GCA chief said that besides police and law enforcement agencies personnel, 125 trained fire-brigade personnel, jawans of private security service and GCA's volunteers have also been pressed into service for stringent security. The pitch and ground of the event has been handed over to BCCI curator Dhiraj Parasana since December 5. Parasana has been asked to prepare a sporty wicket for helping both the bowlers and batsmen, he added. in-depth coverage > India-Sri Lanka Test Series 2005 > |
