The catapulting of Mahendra Dhoni into cricket's big league has left his parents with a problem -- they cannot accommodate the growing number of admirers dropping in regularly in their not very spacious house. "We find it difficult to find even legroom in our house as well wishers and admirers drop in regularly," Dhoni's father Paan Singh told a news agency in Ranchi on Friday. The latest pin-up boy of Indian cricket has grown up in MECON Shyamali colony near the stadium where he used to watch Ranji Trophy matches when he was young and where he himself played later. "Sometimes the house is filled with so many people that it gets very awkward to go out or come in. So we are looking for a new house somewhere near MECON," the senior Dhoni said. Turning to his son's heroics in the ongoing India-Sri Lanka one-day series, Singh said it was indeed a great feeling to watch him hit such fantastic sixes and India winning the series. "In fact, we have got used to watching such shots flowing from his bat, and may God bless his teammates and him." The first signs of his talent were visible when in 1995 Dhoni and Shabir Hussain stitched a record 378 runs for the opening wicket during the Ranchi district school cricket tournament with Dhoni remaining unbeaten on 213. in-depth coverage > India-Sri Lanka Series 2005 > |
