Fast bowler Ajit Agarkar, who picked 5/44 in India’s four-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the fourth ODI on Thursday, rated his effort on a higher scale than the 6/42 he secured in Australia in the last season. “I would place this higher than the one against Australia as this was a winning effort,” the Mumbai right-arm seamer said after he was named Man of the Match. Agarkar said the wicket had been quite helpful to the pace bowlers in the first 45 minutes or so, but added that the bowlers still needed to put the ball in the right areas to reap the rewards. “We picked up early wickets and that helped,” he said. Agarkar said bowling yorkers at the death always took a heavy toll on the bowlers and he was no exception. He also said that he just concentrated on bowling straight on the Nehru Stadium track. “My action is holding up well as I have worked hard on it. I am getting good swing and reverse swing at the moment,” he added. in-depth coverage > India-Sri Lanka Series 2005 > |
