Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has been ''severely reprimanded'' by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for his adverse comments on Indian coach Greg Chappell. In a statement issued in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday after a meeting of the Senior Selection Committee, BCCI secretary S K Nair said a letter was issued to Harbhajan, severely reprimanding him for joining the recent controversy between the captain and coach of the Indian Team. However, the offie is included in the India Seniors team, led by Sourav Ganguly, for the Challenger Trophy beginning at Mohali from October 10 to 13. The Punjab Cricket Association had also spared him from any major disciplinary action with an advice ''to exercise caution while talking to media.'' Harbhajan's remarks against Chappell that his strict regimen had instilled fear and insecurity among members of the Indian team came at a time when the coach's e-mail on Ganguly's fitness to the BCCI bosses was a hot topic in the media. in-depth coverage > India in Zimbabwe 2005 > |
