Under attack from coach Greg Chappell, captain Sourav Ganguly today said he had answers to all that was being said against him but he would not say anything in public on the controversial e-mail from the former Australian captain.Returning with the team from Zimbabwe, he looked serious and was uncharacteristically at a loss for words on a few occasions when he spoke to the media first in Mumbai and later at his residence in Kolkata. He was also surprised why Chappell chose to attack him. "I have got an answer to whatever is being said which I cannot say at the press conference. That will only add fuel to the fire," he told reporters on arrival in Kolkata. "Sourav has a lot of things to say, but he will say everything only before the Board," Ganguly said at his residence to reporters who sought his comments on Chappell's e-mail in which he had reportedly said that Ganguly was mentally and physically unfit to lead the team. Earlier in Mumbai airport, Ganguly said it was a sensitive issue and would speak to the Cricket Board if asked. "I don't want to talk about the issue. Yes, I am aware of it (e-mail). I will talk to the BCCI on the issue if they ask me. It's a sensitive issue at the present moment and I don't want to say anything to stir it up again". The e-mail, in which Chappell had also alleged that Ganguly was creating differences among team members and his attitude was not ideal for India to strive for the 2007 World Cup, is to be discussed at a BBCI meeting on September 27 in Mumbai. in-depth coverage > India in Zimbabwe 2005 > |
