Left arm seamer Irfan Pathan intends to keep working on his bowling in near future and says it remains his top priority despite his impressive recent turnouts at the batting crease.Pathan returned figures of 12/104 from the second Test against Zimbabwe which is the best ever by an Indian bowler abroad but he is far from satisfied. "It's good to know when some records come your way but if you keep bowling well, these things happen. It's been a good run for me, the last two weeks have been wonderful," the left arm pacer from Baroda said after India's victory in the second Test in Harare. The win gave India its first series win outside the subcontinent since 1986. Pathan said if he kept worrying about his batting, it could cast a shadow on his preparation as a bowler also and hence he is trying to avoid the trap. "It feels better if you score runs but if I keep worrying about the batting, it might affect me in other areas. "I am working hard on my batting but bowling remains my priority. However, things are getting better for me in batting as well." Pathan emphasised Ian Frazer of the support staff had done some good work with his bowling and made some small yet important adjustments. "He has done some good work with everyone. There are a few small things but they are important in larger context." Pathan said he was aware that his bowling performance in India hasn't been very important and that he would look to rectify it in the coming season. "I haven't played a lot at home but I am ready to bowl better in India." in-depth coverage > India in Zimbabwe 2005 > |
