Skipper Sourav Ganguly today said some outstanding bowling performances combined with good cricket on the field clinched India the two-Test series against Zimbabwe."We played well. We had expected some resistance in the second innings but we used the opportunities that came across our way," Ganguly said after India stamped a 10-wicket win against Zimbabwe in the second and the final Test in Harare. It was India's first series win outside the subcontinent since 1986 when Kapil's Devils clinched a 2-0 victory in England. India won the first Test in Bulawayo with an innings and 90 runs. "Our catching had been outstanding. It was good cricket overall in quite a few years," he said as there were as many as six wickets, who were caught out and hardly any dropped. Ganguly agreed that it was an expected result. Zimbabwe skipper Tatenda Taibu said his team had come back well in the second innings to reach 223 after being bowled out for 161 in the first knock. in-depth coverage > India in Zimbabwe 2005 > |
