Lone Indian in the fray Mohinder Amarnath said he was happy with his interview for the Indian team’s coach's job in New Delhi today.

Amarnath, who came out after an audio-visual presentation at a city hotel, looked composed and said, ''It was a very healthy conversation but for me facing an interview was a different experience altogether. I just presented my case before the committee.''

When asked why his interview took so long, Amarnath, accompanied by his brother-in-law, quipped, ''I was doing bhangra inside.''

The all-rounder, famous for his comebacks and calling the selectors 'a bunch of jokers', talking about his chances said, ''I am very happy with my interview.''

Amarnath, who won back-to-back man of the match awards in the semifinal and final of the 1983 World Cup, was the first of the shortlisted candidates to be called for the interview.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) asked the candidates to appear in alphabetical order. The interview started with Amarnath to be followed by Greg Chappell. Desmond Haynes comes in next with Tom Moody completing the line-up.

The interview is being conducted by a six-member high-power committee comprising BCCI president Ranbir Singh Mahendra, his predecessor Jagmohan Dalmiya, former India captains Sunil Gavaskar, S Venkatraghavan Ravi Shastri and Board secretary S K Nair.
