Pakistan has prepared a proposed itinerary for the Indian team’s tour early next year and PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan will hand it over to BCCI President Ranbir Singh Mahendra during the two-day Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting in Kuala Lumpur on May 11-12.‘’The News’’ quoted an anonymous Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official as saying that a tentative itinerary had been drawn up with venues and dates and it should be discussed by Boards from both the countries on the sidelines of the ACC meeting. ‘’The Indian team according to the tentative itinerary should arrive in Pakistan around January 2 and complete its tour by February 15 playing three Tests first and then the five One-day Internationals,’’ the official said in Lahore on Sunday. Meanwhile, the official also confirmed that shortly after hosting India, PCB has plans to stage the Asia Cup from February 18 with the Indians staying back to compete in the tournament along with Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and associate qualifiers Nepal and UAE. According to him, it has been suggested in the tentative itinerary that the Test matches against India would take place in Rawalpindi, Multan and Lahore while smaller centres like Peshawar and Sheikhupura would host the one dayers. ''The finalisation of any tour itinerary is an ongoing process and the PCB chairman would be carrying an interim itinerary to Kuala Lumpur where he would definitely meet Indian officials. But while saying this, I am not saying that the tour itinerary has been finalised or would be finalised in Kuala Lumpur. Nevertheless, we should remember that it’s the prerogative of the host country to propose the dates and venues of the series,’’ the official said. Schedule of the Asia Cup would also be finalised during the Kuala Lumpur meeting, he added. in-depth coverage > India-Pakistan Cricket Series 2005 > |
