Ganguly hopeful of a series win against SA 23.35 IST 01st Dec 2004
By IndiaExpress Bureau
The second and final Test against South Africa was interestingly poised and India would press for a win on Thursday to bag the home series, skipper Sourav Ganguly said on Wednesday.
"The match is at a very interesting stage. We hope to do well tomorrow," said the skipper who arrived at the state secretariat to meet Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee after the day's play at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Asked if he was confident of winning the match, Ganguly said "just wait and see what happens."
Later, the Chief Minister said, "I have told him (Ganguly) to smash the visitors before lunch, win the Test and bag the series."
The captain went back to the Eden Gardens after the meeting to attend the selectors' meet for picking the squad for the upcoming Bangladesh tour.
