"We were outplayed by a team which played better and we should give them full credit for their remarkable effort," Miandad told reporters after Pakistan's innings and 131-run loss to India in the third Test in Rawalpindi. Asked what made the current Indian team click, the legendary batsman said they had some very good batsmen and were high on confidence. "Earlier teams were also good, but this team is high on confidence. They have an established batting line up. Their top six batsman have an average of nearly 50, so that is very good. Their youngsters are also coming up, so I think they have got the right balance," said Miandad. Although several of his players failed to perform upto the mark in the series, Miandad said it was upto the selection committee to decide whether they wanted to make changes in the team composition. Pakistan Cricket Board chief executive Rameez Raja suggested his boys to take a leaf out of 'Team India's' book. "The time has come to make 'Team Pakistan' the motto. There are some individual brilliance but now we must pull all our positives together and play for the country," Raja said. in-depth coverage > India-Pakistan Cricket Series 2004 > |
