Indian cricket team arrives from Australia
13.03 IST   10th Feb 2004

By IndiaExpress Bureau

Arriving in Hyderabad in the vee hours from the Australian tour, Indian captain Sourav Ganguly said the team did not play well in the last two games of the one-day series and 'could have played better'.

"We just did not play well in the final," Ganguly said in a brief interaction with the media after a tumultuous reception from the ardent fans, unmindful of a drawn Test series and another humiliating defeat in the one-day series.

He said there were some useful contributions by the members of Indian team but "what matters is we did not play well in the last two matches" of the one-day series.

When asked to name some of his teammates who played well, he said "Sachin Tendulkar, V V S Laxman, Rahul Dravid, Irfan Pathan and me".

Ganguly abruptly returned to his security cordon after a near stampede at the Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad.
