Board president Jagmohan Dalmiya told newspersons that the contract - signed with a consortium for the first time - would be valid till May 31, 2006. As per the agreement, Videocon would be the title sponsor of the upcoming Test series between India and New Zealand in October, while TVS would sponsor the triangular series featuring India, New Zealand and Australia to be played during October-November, Dalmiya is quoted to have said. With this contract, "BCCI's relations with Pepsi is being renewed for a three year period," he said, adding the agreement, however, would not stop other companies from coming forward as sponsors of Indian cricket provided "they show like-mindedness and are sympathetic to the cause of cricket". Asked about excluding LG and Hero Honda from the consortium, Dalmiya said "discussions are on with them. We are still probing the minds of each other". |
