Mumbai Mayor Mahadev Deole sprang a pleasant surprise on superstar Sachin Tendulkar on Friday when he called on the batting maestro at his residence.

The Mayor made this special gesture to congratulate the Master Blaster him for doing the country proud by winning the ‘player-of-the-tournament’ award in the just-concluded World Cup.

Deole said later that Sachin was extremely happy to receive him and said it was a big boost for the players to see so much of support from people from all walks of life.

“This kind of support helps us to perform better and give hundred per cent when we are playing for the country,” Tendulkar, who scored 673 runs at an average of 66.90 from 10 matches in the World Cup, said.

“Playing for the country is every Indian's dream and it is our job to give in cent percent on the field,” Tendulkar told Deole.
