In a letter to skipper Sourav Ganguly, Mr. Vajpayee said: “I join the countrymen in wishing good luck to you and your team.” The letter will be delivered by Sports Minister Vikram Verma who is flying to Johannesburg for Sunday’s final against Australia. The Prime Minister also signed a ‘good luck’ bat for the team, which had the message “I pray to God that India emerges victorious at the World Cup.” The Prime Minister’s message was made available to mediapersons by the Sports Minister who also wished the team good luck. “We hope we win the Cup back after a gap of 20 years,” Mr. Verma said.
