The stage is set. India will clash with defending champions Australia in the final of the World Cup at The Wanderers in Johannesburg on Sunday. To set up this clash, India beat Kenya by 91 runs in the second semi-final at Kingsmead in Durban on March 20.Chasing a victory target of 271 runs, the Kenyans were bowled out for 179 runs in 46.2 overs. Kenyan skipper Steve Tikolo fought a lone battle in their run chase top scoring with 56. The Indians conceded 39 extras. Zaheer Khan took three wickets, while Ashish Nehra and Sachin Tendulkar took two wickets each. Javagal Srinath and Yuvraj Singh captured one wicket each. Earlier, Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly won the toss and elected to bat. Sachin and Virender Sehwag gave India a good start putting 74 runs. But a sudden rush of blood saw Sehwag lose his wicket for 33. Missing a century for the fourth time in this World Cup, Sachin scored 83 runs with five fours and a six. Ganguly reached his 21st ODI century with a huge six over long-on. This is the Indian skipper’s third century in this World Cup and his second against Kenya. The ‘Bengal Tiger’ hit five fours and five sixes in his unbeaten knock of 111. Man of the Match Ganguly has now hit the maximum number of sixes in this World Cup. India scored 270/4 in their 50 overs, which on this difficult batting track was almost like 300. This is the second time that India have reached the World Cup finals. When they reached the finals twenty years ago, they shook the world beating the then defending champions the mighty West Indies.
