The operation has been put off until after the World Cup because Nehra is keen on being part of history as India have booked a final berth after 20 years. Nehra, who has struck form in this competition, admitted it was not easy bowling with a strapped ankle. An operation on the ankle would mean the bowler will be out of action for at least three weeks. "It is not easy bowling with a strapped ankle and such injuries do not get healed easily," Nehra said. "But this is one of the greatest moments of my career -- playing in a World Cup semi-final and pain or no pain, I am going to play," Nehra was quoted as saying on the World Cup's official website. Nehra was also optimistic about his fitness, injury notwithstanding. "I think this World Cup has proved to one and all a thing or two about my fitness. People have been commenting on my fitness and I cannot shut everyone up but I think I have done justice to my team," he said. in-depth coverage > Cricket World Cup 2003 > |
