Injured Australian top-order batsman Damien Martyn is out of the World Cup semi-final against Sri Lanka.
Martyn injured his right index finger while fielding in the five-wicket Super Six win over Kenya on Saturday. Medical scans on Monday confirmed a fracture, Australian coach John Buchanan told a news conference at St. George's Park.
The No. 4 batsman had visited a local hospital for a precautionary x-ray, He had his middle fingers taped together and skipper Ricky Ponting had said it was nothing serious.
"It only a precautionary measure," said Jonathan Rose, the media manager for the Australians.
