Even as Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly urged the players to "hold their heads high", his Kiwi counterpart Stephen Fleming admitted that the Indians had more talent than the pitches allowed them to show. Ganguly told the boys to put the disappointing outcome of the tour behind them and look forward to the battle ahead. "I know it's not gone our way, but keep your heads high. We are a good side and I know we'll do well in the future," said Ganguly, who thanked his teammates for the "hard work they have put in." New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming showed the grace to concede that India's poor performance had a lot to do with the pitches. He also said the team would certainly give a better account of itself in the upcoming World Cup. Addressing the beleaguered Indian captain directly, Fleming said, "We know you've got more talent than what the pitches here allowed you to show and we know that you will be a real threat in the World Cup. We look forward to seeing you in the Super Sixes". in-depth coverage > Indian Cricket Team's New Zealand Tour > |
