Mongia to join Indian team in New Zealand
20.34 IST   01st Jan 2003

By IndiaExpress Bureau

Left-handed batsman Dinesh Mongia will join the Indian team in Queenstown, New Zealand on Thursday.

Mongia is joining the team, as he has been included in India's World Cup squad on Monday.

It will give him some valuable match practice before the World Cup, which is scheduled to begin in February in South Africa.

Mongia's arrival must give the sagging morale of the Indian team a much-needed boost.

The team is feeling low following three consecutive losses in the one-day matches against New Zealand in the seven-match series.

Team manager N R Choudhary said, "We have wasted little time in getting Mongia's visa organized. It's been done now and he should be joining us tomorrow."
