Speaking to reporters in Mumbai along with skipper Sourav Ganguly before his team's net practice, Wright said, "the pressure will be definitely on England because if we win here we take the series 4-2 and even if England win tomorrow they will have to be content with leveling the series. The boys are quite on a high even though we lost the previous tie at Delhi. They know they have the task cut out for tomorrow and I have confidence in them," he added. Asked about the team's middle order collapse in Delhi where the Indians lost four wickets for 20 odd runs, Wright said, "in one day cricket it is easier for number one, two and three batsmen in the middle but it is always difficult for number five and six batsmen to keep their wickets and at the same time to go after the bowling. The Indians either win by a huge margin or lose narrowly like they did in Cuttack and Delhi where it was not easy for two new batsmen to rotate the strike after we lost quick wickets," the former New Zealand skipper said. Ganguly said the team management had decided to send Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag to open the batting and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh should be back in place of another off-spinner Sarandeep Singh. "The playing eleven will be picked only tomorrow after consulting the selectors," he said. About the wicket at Wankhede, Ganguly, said, "it is a good track and we will go all out to win." On his own form with the bat, Ganguly said, "I am middling the ball well in this series and I am averaging around 40. Even in the last match I got 70-odd runs and I am sure I can do better here. We let slip two opportunities at Cuttack and Delhi and I am sure everybody in the side knows the importance of tomorrow's game," he added. Asked whether he was concerned with the tight security, after reports of threats to kidnap him and Tendulkar for ransom, Ganguly, said, "not at all". in-depth coverage > India England Cricket Series > |
