Ganguly doubtful for Chennai one-dayer
20.30 IST   24th Jan 2002

By IndiaExpress Bureau

Indian skipper Saurav Ganguly may not be able to play in Friday’s one-day match against England as he has suffered a hamstring injury.

According to coach John Wright, Ganguly pulled a hamstring muscle while he was having fielding practice on Thursday evening in Chennai.

The Indian captain has gone in for an ultrasound, which will determine the seriousness of the injury. However, whether Ganguly will be fit for the match will only be known tomorrow, the coach said.

In case Ganguly is unable to play, either Sachin Tendulkar or Anil Kumble is likely to lead the Indian team, Wright said.
