Incidentally, England captain Nasser Hussain was born in this city in March 1968. Hussain now returns to his home ground leading his side, which is slowly but steadily getting into its groove. With the series standing at 1-1, both India and England are likely to pull out all the stops to gain a psychological advantage. While England is upbeat with their win at Cuttack, India would be hoping for a good display by their batting order, which failed to chase the low victory target of 251 runs at Cuttack. However, changes in the batting order seem hard to visualize. One change could be the axing of V V S Laxman who has failed in both the encounters, getting out because of his lethargic ways. If Laxman goes, Railways all-rounder Sanjay Bangar is most likely to get the nod. The inclusion of Bangar would also considerably strengthen the bowling department, which did well to restrict the visitors to 250 at Cuttack. The biggest dilemma England face is how to accommodate their best batsman Graham Thorpe in the final eleven. Michael Vaughan, who is batting at the number four position, which is Thorpe’s, has responded well with a good score in the fixture at Cuttack. Moreover, there is little chance of Thorpe being sent in at number five either because Paul Collingwood played a match-winning knock in that position in the last game. It also earned him the Man of the Match award. Therefore, skipper Hussain will find it difficult to drop either Vaughan or Collingwood after their excellent show with the bat. Another possible change could be the inclusion of fast bowler Andrew Caddick in place of Matthew Hoggard, who took only one wicket both at Kolkata and Cuttack. The return of Ashley Giles in place of Ben Hollioake, who got out for a duck at Cuttack, cannot be ruled out. A factor, which is in favor of Hollioake, is that he was instrumental in getting Sachin Tendulkar run out at Cuttack. One fervently hopes that if he wins the toss, Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly does not repeat the mistake he committed at Cuttack, to invite the English to bat. Chepauk, which can seat 50,000, stands out for its agreeable ambience and crowd, reputed to be the most knowledgeable and appreciative in the country. This was proved when those present gave a standing ovation to Saeed Anwar after his record breaking 194 against India in the Independence Cup match in 1997.
