Even though India won the last game, coach John Wright has not ruled out any changes in the squad. That would mean possible ODI debuts for all-rounder Sanjay Bangar and off-spinner Sarandeep Singh. But it would be tough to make changes in the Indian batting order, as the two batsmen on comeback trail, Dinesh Mongia and Hemang Badani came up with good scores at Kolkata. Changes would also be difficult as far as the Indian bowling is concerned, as pacers Javagal Srinath and Ajit Agarkar took two and three wickets respectively at Kolkata. England would be looking forward to another good batting display by Marcus Trescothick after his fabulous knock in the last match. It would be interesting to see whether England pick Andrew Caddick in their squad to open the bowling with Darren Gough. If Caddick is included, he would most probably come in for Matthew Hoggard, who took one wicket off his ten overs giving away 48 runs on Saturday. England would also be hoping for a change for the better as far as the umpiring is concerned. The Barabati stadium has been lucky for India. India have won five out of the seven ODIs at this venue, the first being in January 1982, when India beat England by five wickets. Teams (from): India: Sourav Ganguly (captain), Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag, Ajay Ratra (wicket-keeper), Hemang Badani, Dinesh Mongia, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, Sarandeep Singh, Ajit Agarkar, Zaheer Khan, Sanjay Bangar and Javagal Srinath. England: Nasser Hussain, Marcus Trescothick, Nick Knight, Michael Vaughan, Paul Collingwood, Andrew Flintoff, Jeremy Snape, Ashley Giles, James Foster (wicket-keeper), Darren Gough, Matthew Hoggard, Andrew Caddick, Ben Hollioake, Owais Shah and Graham Thorpe. in-depth coverage > India England Cricket Series > |
