England team arrives for one-day series 16.12 IST 11th Jan 2002
By IndiaExpress Bureau
The 15-member English cricket team led by Nasser Hussain flew into Kolkata on Friday for a six-match one-day series against India beginning on January 19 at Eden Gardens.
The team was immediately driven to a city hotel amid tight security.
Apart from airport security men, gun-totting commandos and Rapid Action Force personnel had taken up positions at the airport complex much before the arrival of the flight.
A large member of media men, who had assembled at the airport since early morning, only got a glimpse of the players seated in the bus when the vehicle whisked past them through a side gate.
