No ban on India, South Africa: ICC 21.00 IST 23rd Nov 2001
By IndiaExpress Bureau
The International Cricket Council said on Friday that there is no truth in reports that India and South Africa would be suspended or banned from playing international cricket following their defiance of the game's governing body.
An ICC spokesperson said in London that as of now no emergency meeting of the 15-member ICC Executive Board was proposed to be called to discuss the situation created by the unprecedented action of the Cricket Boards of India and South Africa in dumping ICC match-referee Mike Denness for the third match of the current India-South Africa Test series.
The spokesman hastened to add that the situation was still evolving but no meeting of the Executive Board was planned before the scheduled one in Colombo in March next year.
"The situation may change in the next couple of days," the spokesman said.
