"It is a battle the Indians are having with the ICC. I don't understand why all of a sudden they want to call off the series. There is nothing that the South African cricket and the UCB (United Cricket Board of South Africa) has done," Mr. Pollock said. The South African captain was giving his reaction to reports that the Indian team may cancel the tour in protest against Match referee Mike Denness’ harsh punishment of six Indian players, including batting genius Sachin Tendulkar. "To call the tour off does not make sense to me, but they obviously have got their reasons and feel strongly about it," he said. He, however, denied the Denness decision had created bad blood between the two camps. "I don't think it has created more needle between the two teams," he said. Mr. Pollock also asked his team to be alert as he felt India would try to come back strongly in the wake of the controversy. "We realize that a side in adversity often tends to pull closer together and come out stronger," he said. in-depth coverage > Indian Cricket Team's South Africa Tour > |
