ICC rejects India’s demand to review decision 20.31 IST 21st Nov 2001
By IndiaExpress Bureau
The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday refused to review the decision to penalize Indian batting genius Sachin Tendulkar for ball tampering during the drawn second test against South Africa.
The ICC also said that it would await a written request from the Indian Cricket Board before considering its demand for replacement of match referee Mike Denness for the third and final Test.
BCCI Chairman Jagmohan Dalmiya has demanded the removal of Mike Denness and revocation of the punishment to the six Indian players.
An ICC spokesman said: "On the match referee's judgement there is no right of appeal. The Indian board has been requested to outline their position in writing to the ICC. As and when that arrives we'll deal with it."
