When play was called off due to bad light, India had scored 28 runs with the loss of Shiv Sunder Das’ wicket under conditions hardly conducive to batting. Das failed once again, getting out for a duck. Deep Dasgupta (22) and Rahul Dravid (3) were at the crease. Only 24 overs were possible in the day’s play due to persistent and heavy rain. South Africa declared their second innings at 233/5 with Jacques Kallis scoring 89 runs and skipper Shaun Pollock scoring 55 runs. With India still trailing by 366 runs, positive batting and the elements alone can help them save this match. The real threat for the Indian batsmen comes from Pollock, who again bowled an incisive spell of 7-4-5-1. He took the wicket of Das. Pollock was ably assisted by Kallis, who time and again beat both Dasgupta and Dravid with swing bowling. South Africa are already 1-0 up in the test series. in-depth coverage > Indian Cricket Team's South Africa Tour > |
