Laxman, Harbhajan get contract, thanks to Waugh’s word
22.31 IST   04th May 2001

An Australia-based sports management company has signed a three-year contract with India's latest cricket stars V V S Laxman and Harbhajan Singh to help them in non-cricketing affairs.

It will help the two cricketers decide how and where to invest, provide sponsorship and details on credibility of sponsors and media training, and manage life after sports, Sporting Frontiers CEO Simon Halden said.

The company will soon have a management structure in India and later it will have contract with players of other games too.

Australian captain Steve Waugh is the non-executive of the company and on his recommendation, the two cricketers got a lucrative contract.

Both played a major role to put a brake on Australia's winning spree this season. Australia, which recorded 16 test wins in a row, lost a three-test series to India 1-2. However, the Kangaroos managed to win the one-day series against India 3-2.
