InDepth headlines national business sports cricket regional entertainment technology world travel autos health | India likely to send junior football team for Pak series 22.00 IST 16th Apr 2005 By Agencies India may opt for a second string squad for the three-match Indo-Pak football series to be held in Pakistan in June. The All India Football Federation's Technical Committee, which met under the chairmanship of its president Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi recently, was off the view that the series should be treated as an exposure trip for the junior players, AIFF sources said. They said most of the senior players would have been exhausted by the time the series begins as it is to be held immediately after the completion of the National Football League and hence it was considered that sending a junior team was a better option. Sukhwinder Singh is likely to be the coach of the team while former international Bramhanand may accompany them as a goalkeeping coach, they added. The Technical Committee is also learnt to have decided to retain Alok Mukherjee as the coach of the junior team and are likely to rope in the services of Hemant Dora as goalkeeping coach. |
