India drew 2-2 with the South American nation after seemingly headed for only their second win in five matches in the league before Argentina drew level with exactly a minute left for the hooter. Gagan Ajit Singh, who had an indifferent tournament, made some amends by lying in wait near the goalmouth to deflect home inch-perfect passes served to him by the two Pillays - Vikram and veteran Dhanraj - to score both the Indian goals. The draw was enough for the Dilip Tirkey-led team to earn the right to meet arch-rivals Pakistan, the third best team in group A, in their opening placings tie to decide the 5-8 positions on Wednesday. India had conceded fag-end goals to Australia and New Zealand earlier in the tournament, which cost them a ticket to the semi-finals. Earlier in the day, the divisions in the team came to the fore with key forward Prabhjot Singh openly criticising the tactics adopted by German-born coach Gerhard Rach. Dhanraj Pillay too had hit out at the coach's tactics in his newspaper column. Deepak Thakur also seems to have recovered fully from his illness, which needed hospitalisation.
