The court also sought the records of another sessions court which had turned down Salman's bail on the plea that prima facie a case had been made out against him for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Public prosecutor R V Kini opposed Salman's plea to drop charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. His argument was that he had prior knowledge that his rash and negligent act of driving the vehicle would be dangerous and might take lives of people. Salman was booked in a hit-and-run case on September 28 last year after his vehicle rammed into a bakery killing one person and injuring four others. Police alleged that the actor himself was at the wheel and was under the influence of liquor. Salman was first arrested on the charge of rash and negligent driving and released on bail. Later, he was charged with a more serious offence, culpable homicide not amounting to murder (section 304, part two, Indian Penal Code). The actor was again arrested and released on bail. The actor has, however, denied the charge. in-depth coverage > Salman Khan's Road Rage > |
