Salman’s release on bail from Thane jail on Thursday has led to several questions regarding the manner in which he was escorted in the personal vehicle of a senior jail official from the rear gate while the mediapersons kept waiting for the Bollywood star at the main gate. Home Minister of Maharashtra, Chhagan Bhujbal is reported to have said that “the jailor acted beyond his authority.” Under pressure from Media, the state government has now decided to set up an inquiry into the incident. Besides jailor, four police officers have also come under scrutiny for letting off the actor after a fine of merely Rs. 950 on the day he first surrendered after the car crash that allegedly killed one man and injured four others in Bandra, Mumbai. Nikhil Wagale, a journalist and social activist is reported to have said that “if these police officers are found guilty, if there are strictures against them in the report filed by Jt. CP Ahmad Javed, they should be suspended and an independent inquiry should be ordered. If they are found guilty in that inquiry, they should be dismissed.” in-depth coverage > Salman Khan's Road Rage > |
