Salman case sparks a ‘Star rush’ for driving licenses 20.30 IST 23rd Oct 2002
By IndiaExpress Bureau
Top film stars have started making a beeline to transport offices to get drivers' licenses after Salman Khan landed himself in trouble over a car crash.
One of the charges against Salman is that he was driving without a valid driver's license.
According to Transport officials, Salman’s case has underscored the need to have a driving licence. Consequently, other film stars are now keen on securing a licence or renewing expired ones.
The stars who have beaten a path to the transport offices are Akshay Kumar, Govinda and singer Parvati Khan.
Government officials and businesspeople have also been thronging the transport offices in large numbers.
Police say the non-bailable charges against Khan have never been used before in case of motor accidents. Up until now, suspects in traffic death cases have been able to get bail.
