Salman is facing the charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. He is also charged with causing death by negligence. The actor had allegedly rammed his vehicle into a shop killing one person and injuring four on September 28. His bail petition is coming up for hearing before sessions judge Pradeep Bavkar on Wednesday. Public prosecutor R.V. Kini will represent the state while the filmstar will be defended by criminal lawyer Abad Ponda. This is the third bail plea from Salman, two petitions having been rejected earlier. Salman is basing his plea on the stand taken by the police before a Magistrate on his custodial interrogation in the case. The prosecution had informed Magistrate S Y Sishode on Monday that Salman was not required in police custody. However, the Magistrate refused to release Salman on bail on the ground that investigations were still incomplete and that he was not empowered to grant him liberty because only a sessions court can try the offence. in-depth coverage > Salman Khan's Road Rage > |
