A top police officer, who preferred to remain anonymous, said the car was brought to India under the cover of a Transfer of Residence (TR) permit. Chikki, who deals in imported cars, has an office in Deira, Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The police officer said though the car’s owner had been shown as Abdul Rahim, a resident of Kasaragod in Kerala, the car was sold to Salman. Police on Wednesday summoned Chikki to police headquarters at Crawford Market for questioning. Pandey is known to import cars for film personalities and businessmen through the TR route. Contrary to press reports, Abdul Rahim is a man whose passport details were used to import the Land Cruiser and who was paid Rs 2 lakh for use of his name. in-depth coverage > Salman Khan's Road Rage > |
