Police sources say that many new facts have come to light from the statements recorded from Salman’s bodyguard Ravinder Patil. Scoffing off Salman’s claim that it was Patil who driving the car that night, Patil said that he “did not even know how to drive”. Patil also gave a detailed account of the happenings of the night. Patil is reported to have told a section of media that he was escorting Salman on the night of the accident along with the actor’s cousin Kamal and driver Altaf. Patil conceded that Salman’s driver was at the wheels before they halted at a hotel for 15 minutes after which Salman himself got on the driving seat and began driving rashly at 70 km per hour. Describing in detail the moment when the accident took place Patil said that the actor turned back to talk to him while driving and lost control of the vehicle that veered off the road and rammed into a bakery killing one on the spot while injuring four others. Apart from Patil’s account, one of the victims has reportedly told the police that he saw Salman getting down from the driver’s seat after the accident. |
