Urmila

She has come a long way from Masoom... to Rangeela.
Remember the chubby child artist in Masoom. After that she re-entered the industry as a heroine opposite Jugal Hansraj which bombed. Probably, her typical middle-class Indian girl look was one of the reasons. Then came Rangeela and the rest is history. In Rangeela she looked mind blowing and suddenly she was transformed into a glamorous babe of Bollywood. Yeah! Urmila Matondkar has breezed past all her rivals and now she is on the threshold of being coronated as the queen of Bollywood.

Urmila As a child she was very shy and naive but turned into an extrovert after 'Rangeela'. With her new found success she became more confident to approach people and strike a conversation with them. Today she feels that maturity has taken away her innocence. Right from her childhood she had a fascination for films. She felt that she was on a big joy ride while watching a movie in a theater.

While most of us have a misconception that film industry is not the place for a goody goody girl, Urmila begs to differ. She says she has never had any bitter experiences even as a child artist. She feels the notion about the film industry is totally exaggerated. The only thing is that the competitive spirit is more here than any other profession. But certain people with vested interest will either try to pull you down or push you up. These Urmila things do happen as a lot of money, glamour and fame is involved with this industry. She feels sorry that glamour is associated with flesh show in this industry. According to her glamour is something that stuns you or something that makes your eyes go wide. She considers herself glamorous but not a 'sex symbol'. She says the media has over hyped this sex-symbol tag as far as she is concerned.

After Rangeela, when Judaai was released, everyone wondered whether she can recreate the same magic with Sreedevi in the central role. And people have liked her performance in the film. She found that her character was interesting and different and that's why she accepted that film. She doesn't believe in the first-lead or second-lead. It was obvious that in a two-heroine movie like Judaai some of them would like Sreedevi and some of them may like her. She doesn't want to compare herself to Sreedevi, who she feels is a tremendous actress. But she is extremely happy with the positive response she has got from the people.

Urmila Urmila feels one has to be spontaneous in acting and doesn't believe in method acting. She feels it would be more natural and appealing if one acted spontaneously. She says she has good roles in her forth coming films and is looking forward for the release of the films like Daud with Sanjay Dutt, Kudrat with Akshay Kumar and Urmila others which are already on the floors. Urmila is ambitious and for her ambition means achieving her goals at her own pace and of course her own terms. Her only grouse being an actress is that her privacy is being invaded. But she has accepted it gracefully as it is a part of the job. She wants to lead a happy, peaceful life and above all be a good human being.

Will she dethrone Karishma, the reigning queen? One hopes, with her new glamorous looks and of course her acting prowess she is all set to be coronated as the 'Queen of Bollywood'. Get ready for the coronation.
