Wipro Infotech, Motorola ISG may snap ties Wipro Infotech and Motorola Information Systems Group (ISG) are likely to part ways.
"We are contemplating snapping ties with Motorola ISG as a result of Motorola's decision to sell off its entire ransmission products division on a worldwide basis," a senior official of Wipro Infotech said while speaking to this newspaper.
In addition, Wipro's recent tie-up with 3Com may also be a cause for this move. "3Com and US Robotics have merged on a worldwide basis and it is just a matter of time that US Robotics modems are channelised through us in the Indian market," the official said.
Motorola ISG officials however said the final decision in this aspect will be taken only after the modem division is hived off. Wipro's likely decision to part ways with Motorola ISG comes after a series of snappings of ties with companies such as Apple Computer, Tektronix.
"We are exploring various options through our Solutions and System Integration division of the Wipro Infotech Group for other tie-ups and will be finalising them within this fiscal," the official noted.
