The cascading falls at the recently inaugurated Cariappa Memorial Park by H.D. Deve Gowda ran dry after the motor pumps went bust. It was less then a week since the park was inaugurated and already, its problems are mounting.
According to Major K.G.K Nair, the "problem is with the location of the pumps at 27 feet high waterfall. The designer buried the pumps far below and as the recycling progresses, they are submerged by the water. The result is a burnt pump. And, for the eager Bangalore visitor, enjoying the water splendour is dampened. The burning of the pumps restrict the complete spray of water and its glory is reduced halfway.
The 22 acre park is open only during 6am to 8am, and 5pm to 7pm. because it is used by the army the rest of the time. Work on the park is far from complete and looks forward to private sponsors. " I need much more to do on the man made lake." says the park manager.
