Feeling like a stuffed paratha

This week let us hear from Mukul Sharma how he got himself overstuffed at the Alampur Restaurant.

The only place these lucky lips had not lapped till last week was any of the purely vegetarian joints. Enter a friend who was visiting from Dubai to check out his parents and the five of us walked into Chalukya Hotel's Alampur restaurant of an evening for dinner, and, horror of horrors, didn't order thalis. I shall, I am told, live to regret this for a long time.Instead, the courteous steward suggested stuff that included a yellow daal, dum aloo, palak paneer and other things, but no, the resident piggy amongst us had to go and ask for stuffed parathas, mushroom masala nd a big fat puri the size of a pizza on top of that. Next day, I was groaning on pills.

The problem was most of it was too rich. Tasty, yes, but oily with too much masala and the aloo dum had little aloo and littler dum. The daal, on the other hand, had come out perfect, along with the palak paneer and finally those stuffed parathas. That's what they're good for - stuffing you. Next time I'll rmember the thalis.
